Sight Reading Basic Exercise 3

Key Signature

Because all cases of “B” notes will be played as “B♭”, we’ve made the notation simpler by writing a B♭ at the beginning of each line in the key signatureA marking used at the beginning of a piece of written music to indicate the key; normally, which notes will be sharp or which notes will be flat. (But not both). This creates a rule which states that all B will be B♭ by default.
