V-Picks

DSC06051-vpick.jpg

V-Picks are the original acrylic pick. They come in a wide array of shapes and sizes, including typical guitar store medium gauges as well as some very bulky and aggressive picks.

Some guitar players end up preferring thick, heavy picks with a narrow point and a speed bevel. The stiffness of the pick ensures that the plectrum doesn't flex at all, possibly enabling even faster picking speed. This genre of picks has many fans. V-Picks are a great way to experiment with different pick types; the acrylic material is both stiff and smooth, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes (including "monster picks"), and overall, they're also not terribly expensive.

Our Take:
✓ Pros
  • stiff
  • many unique (and some extreme) styles
  • glassy and smooth
✗ Cons
  • none

Material: Acrylic (Man-made)

Acrylic is made differently than other plastics. It feels smooth and glassy to the touch. The picks tend to be a little bit on the stiff side.
