Stoneworks Guitar Picks

DSC05985-stoneworks.jpg

Stone is a somewhat extreme material for crafting guitar picks. It runs thick and is of course very stiff. The stiffness of the picks does drive a strong, "thumping" tone–something players tend to either love or hate.

While it's not ideal for beginners, anyone curious about different picks or who collects guitar picks should absolutely have one for their collection. Stoneworks is probably the best place for stone picks; founder Mike Stone has been making them since 2008.

Our Take:
✓ Pros
  • ultra-stiff (both a pro and a con)
  • durable
  • legendary heirloom piece
✗ Cons
  • ultra-stiff
  • noisy

Material: Stone (Natural)

Stone picks are extremely hard and dense, offering a unique feel and tone. They tend to be very stiff and can produce a bright, clear attack. However, they can be brittle and may chip if dropped.
