Rombo Picks

DSC06071-rombo.jpg

Rombo picks are made of an upgraded version of Nylon; we weren't able to determine exactly how it differs from ordinary nylon, but presumably the goal would be to make a more durable material that leverages the smooth picking action of nylon.

Rombo picks impress right away in that they don't feel like ordinary nylon. They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, thicknesses and bevels. Any player would appreciate the Rombo variety pack, which has both familiar and novel pick types. The Rombo Classic is good for strumming; the Shell is more versatile, and the Erebus is good for playing lead.

Our Take:
Recommended
✓ Pros
  • smooth picking action
  • warm tone
  • "slippy" not "grippy"
  • great quality-to-price ratio
✗ Cons
  • limited availability in the US

Material: Nylon+ (Man-made)

Upgraded versions of Nylon have higher strength, lower friction and are great for picking. These are typically Nylon blends or Nylon-ABS hybrids that improve stiffness and durability while maintaining the smooth picking action of standard nylon.
