Red Bear Trading Company Picks

Red Bear is one of the original boutique pick companies. Their picks have often been in high demand and frequently sell out; in the past, fans had to wait until a "drop" went online and then eagerly go to buy.
Red Bear's picks are made from casein, which had since fallen out of popularity for manufacturing guitar picks, primarily owing to it being a total pain-in-the-ass. The manufacturing difficulty had long sense scared off any large accessories manufacturer, but that's when makers like Dave Skowron at Red Bear happily picked up the slack. It's very likely that Dave is responsible for re-popularizing casein as a guitar pick material, and he absolutely helped boutique guitar picks go mainstream.
Red Bear picks come in a variety of shapes, styles, and gauges. Remember that casein does tend to run thicker than other picks; even Red Bear's lightest pick is still probably a bit thicker than 1mm.
If you're curious about casein, Red Bear is the "OG" that brought it back to the market after many years of dormancy. And if you're a collector, you've basically got to have a Red Bear pick.

Material: Casein (Natural)
Casein's fans believe that it is the closest thing to natural tortoiseshell. This bioplastic is made out of milk proteins and bonded together with formaldehyde. It's actually a relatively old technology; the boutique picks that are made with it are expensive primarily because the material is not as easy to work with as other plastics.
