Introduction

This Latin improvisation lesson uses an A minor montuno. A montuno is a unique accompaniment pattern often used in Latin America, especially in Afro-Cuban music.

The Chord Progression

Materials to Use

This chord progression is basically just a big A minor chord. So improvise using the A minor scale—but be sure to try to borrow rhythmic ideas from the backing track to create melodies with.
