Ligna Op. 3 | Hub Guitar

Ligna Op. 3

Notes

This exercise consists of two interwoven melodies, an example of counterpoint. Play each melody separately. If you really want a challenge, try combining them together.

Position

The top part (melody) has a D, which can’t easily be played in position V. So you can either slide up two frets to the “D” on Fret X of the high E string, or you can play the whole thing in position VII. You can review the position VII C major scale here.

Eighth Note

This example also contains an eighth note in measure 10. Its duration is half of one quarter note. It occurs on the “and” of 4. Be sure to play it accurately.
